Chicago Tribune: Illinois Supreme Court hears arguments on Deerfield’s assault weapons ban

The justices heard oral arguments around the legislation from attorneys representing the village, a Deerfield gun owner and gun ownership rights groups. More than three years ago, the north suburban village moved to amend 2013 legislation that further regulated specific types of weapons within village limits. Lawsuits were quickly filed and the ordinance began working its way through the state’s court systems.
